NME Awards 2014

I won the live category of the NME Photography awards!!!

I've been holding back on writing a blog about this from when I originally found out that I'd been shortlisted. In a way I didn't want to jinx anything...but having received confirmation emails and attending the awards, I definitely did win and I still can't believe it! It's so amazing to receive such recognition for my work and it's all very exciting!

This is my winning image, a shot I took of Taylor Jardine of We Are The In Crowd at Hit The Deck Nottingham in 2012.

Here's the printed mag with my image in (October 11th issue)

And my certificate...

 and prize...

The awards have also been in the press elsewhere, here's a few links surrounding the event and also some that feature my photo!

Frock 'n' Roll

At the end of 2013 I had some of my photographs of the lovely Scarlett Ward featured in Rebelicious Magazine, alongside an interview with myself, Scarlett and MUA Amy Murray. I'd wanted to submit to this magazine for a while, so I was mega excited when our set was selected to be featured.

After seeing the photos published, I wanted to get straight back out shooting to submit more. For a while I'd been wondering how I could combine my two main focuses within photography - music and fashion. And what better way than photographing female members of bands and getting them to talk about their style. Having suggested the idea of a feature to the awesome Dominique Marshall (editor and owner of Rebelicious) a few emails later and the idea of Frock 'n' Roll, a monthly featured was created.

So here it is my first Frock 'n' Roll feature for Rebelicious Magazine featuring one of the loveliest and most lively ladies I've worked with Jessica Calvesbert of Aurora...

As a special treat for the first feature, this month's Frock 'n' Roll also featured an interview that I did with Taylor Jardine of We Are The In Crowd...
(Note: the images in Taylor Jardine's feature were not taken by me.)

Look out for next month's issue of Rebelicious for my interview and shoot with Kayley Busby of Follow You Home!

The full set of photos from Jessica's shoot will soon be uploaded.

First gig of 2014

Earlier this week (Monday 10th to be exact,) I got to shoot one of my favourite bands, We Are The In Crowd at London's Koko. I've lost count how many times I've shot them now, it's either 4 or 5...

I love seeing We Are The In Crowd live and this show beat every other show of theirs by far. It was definately an ace gig to kick 2014 off with!

Here's some of my favourite shots from the night, as always the full sets can be found on my Flickr.

We Are The In Crowd & Never Shout Never

As a big fan of We Are The In Crowd, even after shooting them at Hit The Deck just over a week before, I couldn't miss the chance to catch them live again when they played at the Institute in Birmingham. I never ever get bored of listening to this band and seeing them live, and for the second time I was luckily enough to get an interview with them. Myself and Teri Oakshott boarded the WATIC/NSN tour bus and got chatting to Taylor Jardine and Jordan Eckes. You can read the interview on altsounds.com here

The live review and photos are also on altsounds.com and the full set of photos from this show are on my Flickr
