Frock N Roll - Jessica Calvesbert of Aurora

Here's a few of the best shots from my shoot with the amazing Jessica Calvesbert of Aurora. I'd actually been wanting to work with Jess for a good while and thiswas the perfect opportunity. This shoot was really fun as Jess is so lively and animated and not afraid to go crazy! In the short time that we had I think we did pretty well, and as my first fashion shoot of 2014 I am extremely happy with these shots!

I met Rankin!

This one's only a little post but I couldn't not write something about it!

At the beginning of the month I headed to The Photography Show back home in Birmingham. My only intention of going was to attend the interview with Rankin. I was super, super excited for this one as he's a massive inspiration and after hearing him talk about his work, it made me want to work with him even more. Fingers crossed one day I get the chance too!

Not wanting to miss the opportunity I tweeted Rankin a few weeks before the show asking if I could get a booked signed. He said yes and although it was only a short meeting, and I didn't get a photo with him because I had too much stuff, I did get one of my books signed...

Ta-da!

Frock 'n' Roll

At the end of 2013 I had some of my photographs of the lovely Scarlett Ward featured in Rebelicious Magazine, alongside an interview with myself, Scarlett and MUA Amy Murray. I'd wanted to submit to this magazine for a while, so I was mega excited when our set was selected to be featured.

After seeing the photos published, I wanted to get straight back out shooting to submit more. For a while I'd been wondering how I could combine my two main focuses within photography - music and fashion. And what better way than photographing female members of bands and getting them to talk about their style. Having suggested the idea of a feature to the awesome Dominique Marshall (editor and owner of Rebelicious) a few emails later and the idea of Frock 'n' Roll, a monthly featured was created.

So here it is my first Frock 'n' Roll feature for Rebelicious Magazine featuring one of the loveliest and most lively ladies I've worked with Jessica Calvesbert of Aurora...

As a special treat for the first feature, this month's Frock 'n' Roll also featured an interview that I did with Taylor Jardine of We Are The In Crowd...
(Note: the images in Taylor Jardine's feature were not taken by me.)

Look out for next month's issue of Rebelicious for my interview and shoot with Kayley Busby of Follow You Home!

The full set of photos from Jessica's shoot will soon be uploaded.

Hunger Club Clothing

Sunday I shot with the lovely Becki Lloyd in my new home of Peterborough. This was my first shoot in Peterborough and having not had time to go out in search of new locations I decided to make the most of what was right in front of me. Literally. The location featured in these photos is pretty much what I can see from my windows, with a few of the shots being taken at another location 5 minutes away from my flat.

My shoot with Becki consists of 3 parts. This is the first set of images taken for my friend who runs an independenct clothing label called Hunger Club. Here Becki models their new Backhander tee and mascot tee.

Chawro Music Promo

Last month I headed back home to Brum to take some music promo shots for musician Aaron (Chawro).
Aaron was really easy to work with because he had a clear mind of what shots he wanted. Although my work is normally quite bright, Aaron wanted his images to appear fairly natural. I decided it was best to use natural lighting with the odd flash for a few setups.

Here are the results...

Practical Photography Magazine - April Issue

Here's the April issue of Practical Photography Magazine which is out on sale now. My face actually appears in this issue...

As part of the 'Click' feature we find 10 inspiring ideas for other photographers to shoot. For this one we took some self portraits and then transformed them into polaroids using the Poladroid App. This was quite a challenge for me as I never particularly like being on the other side of the camera. We all pull silly faces now and then, but being sat in a studio on my own and having to use a remote cable release made me feel very silly. Here are the results (the few that I let them use)...

I also took the gear shots for these pages (not the wedding shots).
