The Vamps

Hope you're all having a lovely Easter break! I've just got back from spending the weekend with my boyfriend's family, I did also manage to squeeze in just a small gig...The Vamps at the Genting Arena in Birmingham.

I'm pretty sure that this is the first time I've shot at the Genting Arena (was LG, was NEC) and I wasn't too impressed with the shooting situation. At the front of the stage was a small pit for the video crew, then behind them was the VIP standing crowd, then behind them was myself and one other photographer. (I soon realised why there was only just two us of). It's hard enough shooting from behind the crowd anyway, let alone when the majority of that crowd are taller than you, or of course are waving their arms in the air during the show. I'm not going to lie, I really struggled. To make matters even worse to the left of us was a walkway into the crowd, perfect chance for some close-up shots right? Not if the crowd that are infront of you suddenly all run back into your space (behind a clearly marked lined) to get close to the band members as well, while you're trying to do your job.

Any way enough with the negatives, while it was a challenge, I did manage to get some shots that I'm quite happy with, (even if they were from me sneakily standing and crouching on the barrier behind me for the last song of the two that we got to shoot).
All shots were taken on my Nikon D7000 and 70-200mm f/2.8. The full set of images can be viewed on Flickr, see a few of my favourites below...
