Best of 2015...

Yes, I'm one of those people who at the end of the year looks back on what I've achieved, and then tries to set myself goals for the new year. I've shot some amazing gigs and festivals throughout 2015, and have travelled up and down the country. It's always hard going through the hundreds of photos I've taken and choosing just ten, but here are ten of my favourite shots of 2015...

Don Broco at Slam Dunk Leeds

Arcane Roots at Hevy Festival

Charli XCX at Leeds Festival

 Slaves at Leed Festival

Pierce The Veil at Leeds Festival

Skindred at The Institute Birmingham

 Alexisonfire at Leeds Festival

Wolf Alice at Leeds Festival

Bastille at Leeds Festival

Taking Back Sunday at Slam Dunk Midlands

Anavae - The Met Lounge - Peterborough

When I first moved to Peterborough apart from being away from my friends and family, and worrying about money, one of my main concerns was the lack of gigs I'd get to go to. I recognised the name of The Met Lounge so hoped there would be a few bands playing who I knew. Typically I've missed out on a few gigs that I would have liked to go to like Fort Hope, Feed The Rhino and Young Guns who played the Cresset, but I was lucky enough to see Funeral For a Friend and also Mallory Knox since being here.

A couple of weekends ago I'd heard that Anavae were playing and knew it was a show that I couldn't miss. I've been waiting to see these guys live for a while, and even though Rebecca was ill, they didn't disappoint.

This was the first show I've ever shot at The Met Lounge, and with their being no barrier or pit I was lucky that the crowd weren't rowdy so I didn't get knocked out of the way. As with all small venues us photographers can't really expect amazing lighting, but I've seen much worse and managed to shoot with flash as well. As I often feel limited shooting with a 50mm I borrowed my boyfriend's 24-70mm - I definitely need to buy one for myself!

Here are some of my favourite shots...

Mr & Mrs Stephenson

As I mainly focus on shooting music and fashion, it's very rare that I shout about shooting weddings, but when asked, yes I am available to capture your special day!

Miss Hayes (now Mrs Stephenson) had asked me to photograph her wedding over two years ago, and her excitement in me shooting it, made me just as excited.

The majority of weddings I've photographed have been during the summer and sunshine, but being November the weather and scenery was a little dull so I had to work within the inside of the location and very near surroundings for the couple shots.

Here's a few images from the day taken by myself and my second shooter Matt Higgs.

Urbanition - Menswear

A few weeks ago I took some catalogue shots for the launch of Urbanition. Their website is now live and you can check out their menswear collection, and my photos!

Bring Me The Horizon - Birmingham O2 Academy

Bring Me The Horizon are one of those bands that I've wanted to shoot for a good while, and thanks to Hit The Floor magazine I shot there matinee show in Birmingham last weekend.

I'd heard a lot about bad lighting from other photographers, so was a little worried about what I was going to get. Luckily there was only me and one other photographer in the pit, so there was plenty of room, but we definitely had to fight against the light. Here's some of my favourite shots...

Skindred - Birmingham O2 Institute

Since moving to Peterborough I hardly shoot as many gigs as I used to. You really don't realise how lucky you are to live in a big city, with tonnes of gigs every day of the week, and only having to drive 20mins to the venue, until you move to a much smaller place. So of course, I make a few special trips back at weekends to see my family and occasionally shoot a gig if possible.

After a 3 hour journey back to Brum on a Friday night, due to getting stuck in traffic on the M6, I just about made it in time to catch the start of Crossfaith's supporting slot at the O2 Institute.

Here's some of my favourite shots of legendary Benji Webbe - Skindred.

Portugal -

At the end of October I went away with my boyfriend and his family for a much needed holiday to Portugal. This was my first holiday in about 5 years, and it was so nice have a break away from everything. Of course I took my camera, and at first I hesitated in taking photos, I wanted to be enjoying the holiday rather than snapping away every 5 minutes. I started to take a few photos here and there, and then by midweek I was shooting as much as possible...

We spent the majority of our time around the Carvoeiro area of the Algarve, but otherwise we were exploring as much as possible...
