Papa Roach - Brixton Academy

I'm a massive fan of Papa Roach so I was really hoping I'd get this gig. I remember buying tickets to see them in Wolverhampton back when I was at Uni and being too ill to go, and then briefly seeing a few songs from their set at Leeds last year before rushing off to shoot the smaller stages, so this gig has been a long time coming! It's also the first gig I've shot of the year, which is pretty damn shocking to think that's almost 3 months of no gigs!

The first support were The One Hundred - the full set of photos can be viewed on Flickr

The Pretty Reckless - Brixton Academy

After rushing to London to shoot Linkin Park, two days later I photographed The Pretty Reckless at Brixton Academy. I'd seen alot of other photographers shots from this tour, and many people moaning about smoke and Taylor Momsen's face being covered by her hair, so I was quite worried about what to expect.

There was quite a bit of smoke, a crowded pit and only 2 songs for us to shoot. I'd love to have got some better shots, but I'm happy with what I did get.

Rise Against - Brixton Academy

Since moving to Peterborough the amount of gigs I've shot and been to in general has dropped dramatically. Back in Birmingham I could jump on a bus or drive 20 minutes away and shoot a gig practically every night of the week. Now if I want to go to a decent gig it's a 2 hour drive back to Birmingham or atleast £25 to jump on a train to London. Not quite as easy as it was back in Birmingham, meaning I've hardly shot any gigs this year other than festivals!

That was until this month, when I decided to apply for as much as possible and just go for it! Two weeks ago I jumped on a train to London after work and headed to Brixton Academy to shoot Rise Against for Hit The Floor. Sadly I didn't get to see much of their set as I had to rush back to get my train, but I did get some shots that I'm pretty happy with.
