Courtney Love

Hole are one of those bands that I grew up listening to and feel like I know pretty much every song. As my mum is a massive fan we saw Courtney Love on her last tour a few years ago. Sadly I wasn't lucky enough to get a photopass, but this time round thanks to Sounndscape magazine I was able to tick off the queen of grunge on my 'got to shoot' list. I'm still in shock that we managed to get this one and very, very grateful to have had this opportunity. You can read my review here.

Having wanted to test out the 14-24mm f/2.8 at a gig I thought this show would be perfect. I definitely felt even more pressured than normal to get good photos as my mum wants to have some printed and put on the wall! I decided to switch halfway through to my 50mm f/1.8 so I could get some close-up shots as well.
Here's the results...

Eden Alt Model

Moving to Peterborough has really impacted the time I can spend on my photography. It doesn't have much of a model/photography scene so I struggle to find people within Peterborough to work with. Of course I'm now only an hours train journey to London which is great, and I have a car, BUT travelling costs money...

Luckily enough I came across Eden's profile on Purple Port, and  after a few months of me settling into my life in Peterborough we finally arranged to shoot. We did originally plan to work with another model and make-up artist who sadly couldn't make it on the day (Watch this space that shoot will be re-arranged), so me and Eden decided to experiment in the studio.

I haven't done much studio work with models as I prefer to shoot on location as there's more to work with. I do however want to expand my studio portfolio and am working on some ideas for creative shoots.

Eden had brought a selection of outfits so I decided to test out some coloured backgrounds. I'm actually quite proud of these two shots and can't wait to work with Eden again!

To experiment a little more I decided to shoot through some fabric, for this shot I held the fabric loose in front of my lens so that it wasn't completely covered. I'm quite happy with the results and want to try out some different materials to see what other effects I can achieve.

Frock N Roll - Rebecca Need-Menear

The latest installment of 'Frock N Roll' features Rebecca Need-Menear from Anavae.

For this shoot I headed to Rebecca's hometown of London and shot around Greenwich Uni. It's an amazing location that I'd love to shoot at again. I'd definitley recommend that every photographer visits it atleast once. The day turned out to be a really, really lovely sunny day, and as there was no need to rush we had a really chilled out shoot.

For this shoot I thought I try out a new lens so borrowed a 14-24mm f/2.8. I've been wanting to use this lens for gigs so thought I see how I work with a wider lens. Here's a few behind the scenes shots taken by Lizzie on my phone.

Massive thanks to Sanctus for lending us clothing, my awesome assistant Lizzie and of course Rebecca. Here's a selection of my favourite photos from the shoot and the feature in Rebelicious.
