Canon Fashion Meet

Last week I got invited to one of Canon's Fashion Meets on behalf of Professional Photo magazine, one of the publications I now work for. The main part of the event was to shoot one of the Trend Shows at London Fashion weekend from the photo pit. When I got the invite I was so excited! I'd never shot anything like this before and so many of my friends have said how amazing London Fashion Week is

We were first given tips from Getty photographer John Phillips, who shoots a wide range of celebrity events such as the Brit Awards and a number of fashion shows, and then we were talked through the type of kit and settings that were recommend for shooting the catwalk.

Being a Nikon user Canon kindly loaned me a 7D Mk II and 70-300mm lens for the job, which did just perfect. The experience overall was really exciting and I would definitely love to shoot more fashion shows! After the event we got to print some of our photos using one of Canon's portable Selphy printers, I used to have a similar printer years ago, and seeing the magic made me want one again!

Massive thanks to Canon for inviting me, I'd love to come along again next year!

Bloc Party - Cambridge Corn Exchange

Last week I got to shoot Bloc Party at the Cambridge Corn Exchange. The venue is only about a 20 minute drive from where I now work ( I started a new job in a January), so shooting gigs in Cambridge is quite convenient for me.

I'd seen a mix of photos from previous dates and a lot of people seemed worried about the lighting, so naturally I assumed it would be quite a difficult one to shoot. While the lighting was quite colourful throughout, at times it was spot on. The photo above is my absolute favourite from the full set! I hadn't seen Bloc Party live before, something I definitely regret having seen them now, it was such a lively show and hearing old songs definitely felt like a blast from the past.

Pop punks not dead

I first saw Bowling For Soup over ten years ago at the Carling Academy in Birmingham. A few years ago they announced their last ever UK tour and sadly I didn't get the chance to go along and shoot it. Fast forward to 2016 and they've come back for 'another round' proving that pop punk really isn't dead.

The lighting at the O2 Academy in Birmingham was really good for this show and I'm really happy with the photos. Jaret even spotted me singing along at one point and posed for the camera!
